Hope Market: Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Hope Market provides groceries every two weeks to families and individuals in Balaton and surrounding rural communities. Established in June 2025, Hope Market helps neighbors facing rising grocery costs, transportation challenges, and limited access to food.

With no grocery store in Balaton and the nearest full-service grocer 12 miles away, getting everyday essentials can be difficult. Hope Market brings food closer to home while offering a welcoming place of care and connection.

Making a Difference

In our first year, Hope Market served 200 households, representing approximately 500 people. We now serve an average of more than 70 households every two weeks, providing each household with 25–40 pounds of groceries, including fresh produce, dairy, eggs, meat, and pantry staples.

Since opening, we have distributed approximately $50,000 worth of food back into our community. Outreach by UCAP has also helped confirm that Hope Market is reaching many households who are not using surrounding food shelves, meeting a need that might otherwise go unmet.

Supported by Our Community

Hope Market is made possible through generous donors, local businesses, foundations, and volunteers. In our first year, 47 volunteers gave their time, including individuals, business teams, and school groups. Our partnership with Hy-Vee in Marshall provides access to bulk groceries, helping donations go further. Victory Church fully covers the staff position that oversees Hope Market, so no Hope Market funds are used for staffing ensuring 100% if donations go towards food and essentials.

Help Keep Hope Growing

Our goal is to make Hope Market a lasting food resource for our rural community. One-time gifts, monthly donations, food and essential-item donations, starting new farmer and other relationships, and volunteer support all help keep groceries within reach for our neighbors. Together, we can help more households put food on the table and find support close to home.
